Associate Veterinary Position – Reproduction Specialty Interest Focus
Advanced Animal Care of Colorado, located in beautiful Fort Collins, is a premier 3-doctor AAHA accredited GP and Specialty hospital within an incredible state of the art 9,200 sq. ft. facility. Founded on a desire to practice thorough preventative, diagnostic and specialty medicine commensurate with our love and compassion for animals, we are looking for an experienced associate who feels the same. Work alongside our 45+ highly skilled support staff team in a family-like environment! Our ideal candidate is someone who has received either specialty training in theriogenology or is board eligible as a DACT and would enjoy also practicing general practice medicine. A minimum of 3 years of practice experience or specialty training equivalent is needed. The ideal candidate would be: confident, self-motivated, compassionate, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and talented in maintaining a bond with clients. AACC has successfully grown a large reproduction clientele and provided Theriogenology services since its inception in 2011. We have an AKC certified frozen semen bank, Canine Genetic Reserve, A MOFA CASA system, TCI equipment, Ultrasound, Whelping facility, Incubator, and more. All equipment needed to run a 1st class Theriogenology practice is already in place.

About The Hospital
Laboratory – Antech reference laboratory as well as in house labs including CBC, Chem, Lytes, Blood gases, etc
Diagnostics – Sound DR system, GE and Oncura Ultrasound, Digital Dental Radiographs, Arthroscopy, Endoscopy, Rhinoscopy, Digital Otoscopy, etc. All radiographs are read by a DACVR for real time input through AIS.
Surgery Center – DACVS attends our surgical center providing all levels of surgical procedures including all orthopedics and soft tissue surgeries, surgical support and training, Laprascopic procedures, Arthroscopy.

Anesthesia – Sevoflourane and Isoflourane machines with the most up to date anesthetic monitors (Digicare Life Windows) with full monitoring capabilities, Access to all anesthetic drugs and the ability to change anesthetic protocols based on the patient’s needs
Hospitalization – we offer overnight care for hospitalized patients, ICU unit, Isolation, etc, Staff is trained to handle multi-parameter monitoring, intensive care for patients and excellent nursing care skills
Dental – Full service dental services performed from basic prophylaxis to extractions, oral surgery, periodontal treatments, restorative procedures as well as endodontics (root canals).
100% paperless practice with integrated data delivery, electronic whiteboard technology and blue tooth connections for anesthetic monitoring reports – very progressive and technology driven practice
Pharmacy – well-stocked and expansive pharmacy that is continually being updated to encompass new products and innovative delivery methods. Flavor RX compounding in hospital as well as compounding pharmacy access to be able to deliver best care to patients. Online Store pharmacy also available for our clients.
Reproductive Services – Full service reproduction practice including neonatal services, fertility assessments, whelping services, genetic health testing, pedigree analysis, AI services with the use of a TCI system, CASA semen analysis, frozen semen bank, breeder counseling, etc.
AAFP Certified Cat Friendly practice – we are very proud of our certification and take our cat patients very seriously and are always willing to expand on these services.
Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine – Existing rehabilitation practice with Under water treadmill, therapeutic ultrasound, Class IV K-Laser, E-Stim, Acupuncture, Massage, Therapeutic exercises, indoor/in-ground salt water swimming pool; Stem Cell certified and ACP/PRP delivery systems. Neutraceutical line that is heavily employed and open to the addition of holistic medicine interest. Any interest and expansion of this area would be greatly supported.
Although the majority of our practice is small companion animal, we also have offer some exotic medicine and would be willing to expand on this area with an interested party.
Our doctors experience a diverse case load, well beyond the everyday annual vaccines and new puppy exam and perform extensive workups, procedures and hospitalization.
Good working relationship with local specialists in the area, including a Cardiologist who sees patients in our practice.
Our senior doctors have a wide breadth of experience and are very willing to share their knowledge and discuss caseload. They are happy to assist when asked, while encouraging new associates’ independence. We maintain an open forum for case discussion and support and participate in organized daily rounds on all patients and cases.
Certified Behaviorist on staff who specializes in reactive, aggressive and anxiety cases and is tremendous support to our staff and doctors. We pride ourselves on our ability to handle all types of animals in a low stress, humane and appropriate manner.
We have a full ancillary services business in addition to the hospital that includes: Doggie Daycare, Swimming program, Luxury lodging for dogs and cats, Professional Grooming, Training classes for puppies, obedience, agility, tricks classes, etc.
Current participation in the "Fear Free" practice initiative with complete buy in from the whole staff - working toward practice certification when available through AAHA
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited university.
Licensure in good standing to practice in the State of Colorado.
A minimum of 3 years of experience or an equivalent Internship Program.
Specialty training in Theriogenology or board eligible with the ACT
Develop a rapport with clients and determine their needs and wishes; perform physical examinations and diagnostic/medical/surgical/dental procedures in a way that will deliver the highest quality care while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
Explain physical examination findings and communicate to the client a diagnosis of the pet’s problems; generate and present a treatment plan for the pet to the client; educate clients on preventative health care, including vaccinations and appropriate nutritional products.
Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up-to-date through established protocols; assist colleagues in follow-up and future management of the patient.
Stay up-to-date with new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine, attend Continuing Education meetings. Strive to “raise the bar” in your personal practice and maintain academic standards within the hospital.
Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
Participate in the daily management of the hospital and act as a representative for the facility.
