We are a large, modern, privately owned, 15-year-old hospital. Our mission statement is: "Veterinary excellence through education, knowledge and compassion."
We are seeking a full-time or part-time, veterinarian who can independently see appointments. No after-hour emergencies or holidays! (Garden State Vet Specialists and Red Bank Vet Hospital are 5-15 minutes away and NorthStar is 25 minutes west.) We see predominantly dogs & cats, but pocket pets are not unusual, and we'll even see the occasional small ruminant, chicken or pot-bellied pig. Just want to stick to dogs and cats? That's OK too!
Experienced vets are preferred, but we enthusiastically provide mentoring for new graduates who are eager and have extensive hands-on experience (previous tech-work in vet hospitals, etc). We love practicing veterinary medicine and want new graduates to succeed in a life-long career too!
Compensation is percentage-based, but the focus is on practicing "good quality medicine" not meeting quotas. We offer a signing bonus plus educational debt assistance. Other excellent benefits such as paid leave, Simple IRA (PLUS 3% employer matching), health insurance, paid CE, Organization dues (AVMA, NJVMA, JSVMA) licenses (NJ, CDS, DEA), AVMA-PLIT malpractice insurance with license defense, and generous employee pet discounts are included.
Our staff is highly-skilled and drama-free. Staffing for every daytime shift usually comprises 2-3 receptionists, 2-3 highly skilled tech assistants (PER VETERINARIAN) and a kennel assistant. We also ALWAYS have overnight assistants to care for boarders and hospitalized animals.
We are firmly dedicated to client education as a major method of providing health care. In addition to spending time discussing and explaining pet-care with clients, we also are active promoters of continuing veterinary education for all staff. Most of our nursing staff is enrolled in veterinary technician programs; we host technician students completing their externships; and we have many college and veterinary students throughout the summer and school holidays. During Covid, we were thrilled to have a couple of our veterinary students return to us, for an impromptu year-long paid externship, while they attended veterinary school remotely.
We're 15 minutes from the beach, 1hr from NYC or Philly. (We're a mostly suburban area, but lots of rural areas for horses, etc.) We have "good" clients, who are loyal and nice. We are active in the community (visiting schools, scout tours, etc), work with the local SPCA and Humane Society, and donate to Heifer International.
Our website's Hospital Tour shows all about the facility:
Although COVID restrictions are no longer a major factor for most of our profession, our tech-heavy, human-friendly hospital provides us many options in caring for our patients. Our spacious exam rooms easily permit in-person exams while maintaining client social-distancing. Thanks to Exam Room computer cameras, clients have the ability to elect Zoom-enabled examinations while remaining in their cars.
We have always had a “fear-free” approach. For many years we have utilized a work-flow structure that reduces patient anxiety and client stress, which fortuitously also matches today's societal needs. Our Telemedicine services have been embraced successfully and enthusiastically by our clients.
Computerized records, computers in all rooms and throughout hospital, fully-stocked exam rooms w/ computers, printers, otoscopes, ophthalmoscopes, adjustable exam tables w/ built-in scales.
Full in-house IDEXX lab (Procyte, Catalyst chemistry, Snapshot, T4, U/A, all SNAP tests), artificial intelligence SediVue urinalysis and Imagyst fecal analyzers, PLUS skilled technicians who can manually read in-house fecals (including giardia) and troubleshoot equipment concerns.
Treatment/ICU w/ circulating heating pads, IV fluid pumps, O2 cage door, incubator for exotics, induction box, Sevoflurane anesthesia. Anesthesia monitors include Pulse-Ox, BP, EKG, CO2.
Complete dental suite including digital X-ray.
CO2 LASER for ALL surgeries.
POCUS Ultrasound, Digital radiology with automatic SignalPet artificial intelligence reporting, Tonopen, petMAP, and Video otoscope
Full pharmacy: including Librela, Solensia, Convenia, Cytopoint, Bravecto, Proheart 6/12, Cerenia, Propofol, DexDomitor; direct-connect online pharmacy for compounded and less popular medications.
